Shipping Information
Metropole Interiors strives to provide our customers with a hastle-free product delivery experience. Don't discount that fact as mere words. It's true!
For that reason, our policies on shipping are the following:
FREE Shipping! - Shipping is included with most orders to the lower 48 U.S. states. All items are shipped as soon as they are available to be shipped. When possible, items are shipped via UPS or FedEx. Some zip codes in the the lower U.S. 48 states do not qualify for free shipping, and Alaska and Hawaii are not included. Please contact us if you are in one of these areas and would like to place an orer.
White-Glove Delivery Where Necessary! - For very heavy or bulky products that are shipped via heavy-freight carrier (ie. sofas, some chairs, glass products, case goods, other bulky, heavy, or fragile items) "White-Glove" delivery is the standard of delivery and is included in the pricing of your product. Sometimes this may result in our prices being slightly higher than our competitors on some products, but it is well worth it. Please read our explanation below to see why.
If you do not want white-glove delivery - some items provide the option to remove it for a discount. In that case, you will receive "curbside delivery", and the responsibility to get the item unpacked, into your home, and dispose of packing and freight materials will be all yours.
Shipping Times - For products that are currently in stock, most will be shipped within five to ten business days of receipt of payment and order acceptance. Shipping times vary however by manufacturer and product availability. For Standard Order products, please allow at least 2-4 weeks for delivery.
For Custom Order items, please allow 12-16 weeks on average for delivery. Your product is probably being made for you in the U.S. or by one of our international suppliers, and will need manufacture time and shipping time to get to you. Your product will always be shipped as soon as possible. If there is any unusual delay with manufacturing or shipping, we will contact you to let you know. Estimated Shipping Times! - All of the above shipping times are estimates, not promises or guarantees. Sometimes things may take a little longer to get to you.
Where do we ship? - Currently we only ship to the lower 48 U.S. states, and Alaska and Hawaii. ALASKA AND HAWAII DO NOT QUALIFY FOR FREE SHIPPING! Please contact us for a special quote for shipping to those locations. We are glad to serve you there and have done it before, but we can't include you under the "free shipping" policy - very sorry!
Under some circumstances, we may choose to take orders from and ship to customers in Canada. Please contact us before ordering to see if we can serve you if you are in Canada before placing an order. In the event that we do, all sales are final to customers in Canada and we would accept no returns under any circumstances.
White Glove Shipping! Why do we do it?
It's simple.
Most online furniture retailers want to show the cheapest price possible on the Internet. For that, you will receive either the lowest level of service they can provide on shipping, or no service at all. That normally means either shipping is extra, or the shipping they include is "curb-side delivery", where, assuming the delivery man can get the item off of their delivery truck by themselves, they will deliver your product to the "closest dry area" outside your home, such as a GARAGE, or under an awning of some sort, but NOT into your home or the lobby of your apartment building. This too is only if your vendor communicates correctly with their shipper, and is careful to make sure that delivery of your large, expensive, and fragile item is made on a "lift-gate" truck, enabling a driver to easily get the heavy item off of the truck.
If that does not happen, and more often than many vendors want to admit - it does, then guess who's responsibility it is to get the item off of the delivery man's truck when it arrives at your home? YOURS!
If you have ever been asked to get a 200+ pound item that is strapped to a 40-pound wooden pallet (yes, twenty to forty pounds for the pallet alone, and then what are YOU going to do to get rid of that heavy, bulky, wooden pallet; not to mention another 20-30 pounds of box and packing material!) off the back of a delivery truck by yourself by the driver of that delivery truck, and you didn't know that this was going to happen, then you know the outrageous feeling of frustration that this causes. You then find out that your heavy, expensive, and fragile item must be trucked BACK to the shippers warehouse, probably several miles away, where after another harrowing and bumpy truck ride it will sit for a few more days and become more susceptible to warehouse damage while the shipper tries to work a lift-gate truck delivery for you into their lift-gate truck schedule which has already been set in stone for three days to a week and doesn't include you.
Why then put yourself through the hassle, frustration, wasted time, and possible damage to your beloved new piece of furniture by ordering a problem that is waiting to happen because it was a little cheaper? We promise, it will make you scorn and regret that slightly lower price, if it actually is lower at all!
Believe us when we tell you that White-Glove delivery is the only way to go when ordering fine furniture. Our shippers make ALL of the above problems go away. Your item will be professionally unpacked and carried into your home by strong experienced people who deliver furniture every day, even up the stairs if necessary (two flights). It will then be assembled, and all of that 40 to 70 pounds of hard, bulky, dirty, messy packing material carried away, so that all you have to do is enjoy your new item after it is delivered.
